Frequently Asked Questions
Wireless Charging Mount & Magnetic Mount | Physical Installation
The mount attaches on the door of the glove box. It is specifically designed to fit the precise contours of the glove box door. After the mount is installed and the door is closed, it provides a very stable mounting point for the phone mount/charger.
The mounts are manufactured from a non-marking material with a smooth, high-quality finish designed specifically for automotive interiors.
Whether you keep the mount installed indefinitely or remove it after every drive, the leather will not be damaged or permanently indented. This has been tested extensively across our own fleet and validated by hundreds of customers. Feedback has been uniformly positive regarding compatibility with all Porsche glove box materials, including extended leather options.

Yes! While many Samsung and Android phones (Galaxy S6 and newer) feature native wireless charging, they lack the internal magnets required for magnetic mounting.
To ensure a secure fit, we include an adhesive metal ring and centering template with every RennMount unit. Simply apply the ring to your phone or case using the provided guide to enable an instant, secure magnetic connection with our mounts.
Note: If you already have a MagSafe-compatible case for your Android phone, the metal ring is not required.
Partially. The factory cup holder on the right side can be deployed and used while the mount in installed. The mount interferes with the factory cup holder on the left side so it is not usable while the mount is installed. For a vastly superior cup holder solution that holds a wide variety of containers securely (12oz to 40oz+), check out the RennMount Precision Cup Holder.
Wireless Charging Mount | Electrical
You must use a round 12V source to power the charger. If you don't have a round 12V receptable inside the glove box, simply use the source in the passenger footwell. Run the cable through the glove box and out the back. This leaves only a few inches of exposed cable (click for photo). The USB-A connection in 991.2 and 718 models will NOT power the charger.
The RennMount wireless charging system utilizes the Qi2 Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), which ensures perfect coil alignment for maximum charging efficiency and thermal management.
Technical Specs:
- Input Voltage: 5V / 9V / 12V
- Input Current: 2A – 2.1A
- Wireless Output: 5W / 7.5W / 10W / 15W (Max)
- Protocol: Qi2 v2.0 Standard (Backward compatible with Qi v1.x)
How it works:
When you mount your phone, the charger and device perform an immediate electronic "handshake." During this process, they negotiate the optimal voltage and current based on your phone's battery health, current temperature, and hardware limits.
- Newer Devices: Most modern smartphones (iPhone 13+ and Qi2-ready Androids) will negotiate the full 15W fast-charging capacity.
- Legacy Devices: Older or non-MagSafe phones are often internally limited by their own firmware and may charge at 5W or 7.5W to protect the battery.
This depends on your phone model but most modern Apple and Samsung devices will charge at a minimum rate of 1% per minute based on our testing.
